Melksham Town reached the final of the Corsham Print Senior Cup defeating FC Chippenham Youth 2-1 in a closely fought tie.
It was the third time the sides had met in four weeks with Melksham winning by the odd goal on all three occasions.
In the opening exchanges honours were fairly even until goals from Josh Robinson and Tim Waylen put Melksham in the driving seat towards the close of the first half.
After the interval Chippenham pushed forward looking to pull a goal back but the Melksham defence denied them many clear cut chance.
With the tie in the last few minutes Jack Coathupe netted with a well taken effort to ensure a lively end to the game.
Chippenham manager Steve Manifold said : “The lads fought well and it was a shame we couldn’t have got a goal a bit earlier in the second half. Their second goal was a bit of a fluke our keeper punched the ball and it hit their player on the back a rolled in, he didn’t know anything about it. On saying that they are a good side.”
Melksham now meet Bradford Town in the final next weekend while in the final of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup Greenmeadow take on Chalke Valley.
