On Saturday 2nd August, we played a split game V Trowbridge Wanderers. The first half saw the bulk of the 1st team play and finish 2-0 up. The 2nd half saw the 2nds take over, resulting in a 3-0 loss. So 2-3 overall, but a good run out.
Saturday 9th saw the 2nds and Under 16B have a mixed match, which was a good run out for all concerned.
The 1sts took on Swindon APS, in what was expected to be a difficult and very tight encounter, just like last seasons Subsiduary Cup final. However, a superb start, with lots of confident passing and movement had us 3-0 up inside 15 minutes, 2 from John Ingram and the other from Alex Orledge. After making a few changes, the game became more even although Mat Smith had little to do behind a very comfortable defence, until a poor back header allowed the visiting striker to lob him and make it 3-1. The 2nd half continued in similar vein, with FCCY well on top and further goals from Joe Forester(pen), Luke Holborough and Lee Blackmore made it a very impressive 6-1.
This saturday (16th) sees both the 1sts and 2nds start their league campaigns at home to Corsham Town and Blunsdon Town Res, respectively with 3pm kick-offs.
