The 1sts lost 1-3 at home to Westbury United Res. Despite playing the vast majority of the football, the visitors long ball tactics caused far too many problems for the managements liking. After being 2 down, Church scored with 10 minutes left and FCCY pummelled the visitors and on 5 occasions just missed out on a finishing touch to equalise. Then to rub salt in an 80 yard "pass" resulted in the visitors 3rd with the last kick of the game.
The 2nds lost 0-2 at KMLC, in a tight game that could have gone the other way with better finishing.
The 3rds played their first game of the season away at Division 1 The Deverills in the A&B Cup. Very little was expected of them, and they performed creditably eventually losing 0-6. The following report on the league website was penned by the opposition:
"THE Deverills were also in the mood for goals and notched up six without reply against a young FC Chippenham side, whose excellent sportsmanship was a credit to them and to the new FA Respect programme which all clubs have been asked to consider.
Nick Bunyard scored a hat-trick for the home side and despite a splendid performance by the visiting goalkeeper further goals followed in the second half from Lee Carpenter (2) and Mike Payne."
So well done lads, especially Tristan Miller (the visiting goalkeeper!) as you obviously made a positive impression. Thanks to Rich Callaway for running the side in the absence of Jay Epton who is recovering from his Cruciate Ligament reconstruction.
